William "Dale" Freeland

William “Dale” Freeland, age 80 of Jackson, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July, 2nd 2024 in Jackson, Ohio. Dale was born February 14th, 1944, to the late William Alfred “Bill” and Marjorie Vivian “Music” Freeland in Jackson, Ohio. Dale was a 1963 graduate of Jackson High School. - He worked for Ohio State Patrol for 30 years as a radio dispatcher, driver license examiner, and a CDL examiner. Once he retired from the OSP he worked as the Manager of the James A Rhodes Airport. During his tenure at the airport, he was able to obtain his pilot license. Dale loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting where he looked forward to his annual deer hunting trip with his buddy Dean and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and making beautiful walking sticks for his family and friends, the Ohio State Buckeyes and watching the news really, really, loud. He took pride in his big full mustache, and we would tease that it looked like a squirrel tail. He loved to garden and make homemade pickles and was a member of the First Christian Church and The United Bretheron Church. He enjoyed reading about Ohio history, the civil war, the Wild West, Native American history and one of his favorite authors is Louis L’Amour. He was a kind, gentle, soul who loved his family more than anything and adored his grandchildren with a special bond with Illyana the youngest. We know he is in heaven and will be watching over all of us. Special thanks to his team at Davita Dialysis who took great care of him the last 8 years and both National Church Residences and Heartland Hospice who cared for him in his last days. Dale is survived by his loving wife, Pamela “Lackey” Freeland, children, Karen (Frank) Yablonsky, Tara Freeland and husband Dan Polcyn, William Michael (Andrea) Freeland, Todd Faulkner, Laura (Tony) Ireland, Leanne Freeland, brother, Jerry Freeland, sister, Norma Fuller, grandchildren, Alex, Abby, Ema, Trista, Taylor, Jack, Emily, Nicholas, Savannah, Sydney, Illyana, Nick, Maddie, special friends, Hugh (Cindy) Bateman, Keith (Judy) Ferris and Dean Martin as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Dale was preceded in death by son, Stephen Jay Faulkner Funeral services will be held at 1PM Saturday, July 6th, 2024 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson, Ohio. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 11-1PM, with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson.
