Wanda Jean Meredith

Wanda Jean Porter Mererdith, age 85 of Jackson passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born January 27, 1941 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Henry and Lilly Marie Allen Porter. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a good friend to all who knew her. She loved kids and dedicated most of her life serving them in some aspect, having over 50 years of driving a school bus and working as a cook for the Jackson City Schools. Outside of the schools, she spent many years driving her car to Athens to work with children with special needs. She is survived by her husband of 65 years whom she married May 20, 1961: Billy Meredith, children: Kevin Meredith, Greg (Wendy) Meredith and Mitchell Meredith, siblings: Janice (Bob) Gosselin, Henry (Karen) Porter, Patricia (Bob) Sluder, Doug Slusher, Anna (Don) Craycraft and David (Dana) Porter, grandkids: Tara (Sarah) Meredith, Nashanda (Brett) Bobst, Shea (Michelle) Meredith, Trevin Meredith, Derrick (Brooke) Meredith, Brooklynn (Tyler) Handley, Jordan Meredith, Makayla (John Davis) Meredith, Bryce ( Bethany) Wilson and Kerri (Drew) Sampson, great-grandkids: Eli, Braden, Macelyn, Daxton, Bronx, Kole, Brantley, Arlie, River, Silas, Layton, Brynnlee, Avanelle, Winslow, Moody, Marc, Brady, Beckett, Jude and Rory, brother-in-laws: Larry (Kay) Meredith and Marshall (Lori) Meredith, Special niece: Diana Meredith, special friends: Tom and Teresa Moore as well as several nieces, nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother: Emogine Porter, her amazing mother-in-law and father-in-law: Orville and Mildred Meredith, son: Billy Meredith, daughter-in-law: Jenny Meredith, brother: James Meredith, brother-in-law: John (Diane) Meredith and grandson: Colin Cavey. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Monday, August 17, 2026 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Hedden officiating with burial to follow in the Bethel Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-6PM Sunday, August 16, 2026 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wanda's name can be made to the National Church Residences Hospice or to the Jackson City Schools, C/O youth programs, 500 Vaugh Street, Jackson, Ohio 45640.
