Karen G. Hood

The world could not contain her any longer, so Karen G. Hood fought her way out and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on June 12, 2024. She left this world just as she entered it, with her beloved twin sister Sharon by her side. Karen was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on December 29, 1958 to the late Wayne and Linnie Curtis (Bapst). Karen grew up in Jackson, Ohio and graduated high school in 1977. She obtained her Associates Degree in Accounting but her true calling was that of a Chemical Dependency Counselor, for which she obtained her certification in 2012. Karen counseled many through their road to recovery and mourned heavily those she could not save. Karen was instrumental in spreading the word of God through Twin Chapel Church. She was an ordained Minister performing many wedding ceremonies along the way. Karen was a talented artist and musician. Her greatest pleasure was strumming her guitar and singing the Lord’s praises. She was a beautifully fierce soul that loved with every ounce she had. Karen married the only man that could convince her to do so, the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Hood on January 24th, 2010. Karen and Chuck shared a beautiful and fun filled marriage with many children and grandchildren between them. Karen leaves behind those that will mourn her forever, her children Kara (Dennis) Edmiston, Jason Curtis, Step Children Carla Hood, and Laura Hood; bonus step-children: Terri (Chuck) Scott, Vince (Genia) Wolford, grandchildren: Elijah Edmiston, Ava Fain, Grayson Edmiston, JaShaelyn Curtis, and many beloved step-grandchildren. Siblings John (Karen) Curtis, Don (Wendy) Curtis and her other half, her twin sister Sharon Curtis. Karen had many nieces and nephews for which she dearly loved and held a special bond with Mikaila Dennison and Joe Ringling. Karen is predeceased by her parents Wayne and Linnie Curtis, Brother Wayne Curtis, and nephew Johnathan Curtis. Karen was a woman of God and held deep in her faith as a vessel of his word. She clung to him in her final hours and prayed not for herself, but for everyone she leaves behind. Calling hours for Karen G. Hood are Saturday June 15 from 11a-1p at Mayhew Brown Funeral Home of Jackson with graveside services following at Beaver Union Cemetery.
