Evelyn Kay (Sagraves) Brady

Evelyn Kay (Sagraves) Brady, age 71, of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born in Gallipolis, Ohio on February 3, 1948 to the late William Bowens and Violet Aileen (Miller) Bowens. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tony Lee Sagraves, her precious son, Lance Alan Sagraves, and her sister, Cathy Rose. Evelyn had a love for God unlike anyone else, and her kindness and servant’s heart served as a witness to all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. She enjoyed being an active and a very involved patron of the Jackson First Church of The Nazarene, of which she was a member since the age of 16. Of her many hobbies that she enjoyed, her favorites included baking pounds of fudge, crocheting blankets for her family and friends, embroidering, and feeding her wildlife that frequented her backyard. She loved to fly and travel to any place that offered a new adventure and people to meet. Her family often joked that she would deliberately pick the flight with the most connections in order to talk to as many people as she could. Evelyn loved her family and serving her Lord with an unrivaled depth and joy, and she was and always will be an inspiration to love others with kindness, generosity, and hope. She is survived by her second husband, Jerry L. Brady; her sons, M. Wade (Renee) Sagraves and Adam L. (Sarah Beth) Sagraves; step-daughter Stacey (Phillip) Stanley; her sister Janet Sue (Tim) Taylor; her grandchildren Emily Sagraves and Brandon Sagraves; step-grandchildren Aaron Church, Mitchell Church, William Stanley; Brother-in-law Larry Rose; niece Erica (Chris) Roth; nephews Chris (Cathy) Thomas and Zachary Taylor, and many other beloved family members. A funeral service will be held at the First Church of The Nazarene on Sunday April 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, April 13th from 2:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Evelyn to the Evelyn Brady Memorial Fund, which will benefit the ministries she supported.
