Alice Jean Euton

Alice “Jean” Euton, age 86, passed away peacefully in Jackson, Ohio. She was born on March 2, 1940, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Herbert and Alice May (Harris) Hargrove. Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Freeland; her husband, Harold “Red” Euton; her brother, Herbert Lauren Hargrove; and her sisters, Frances (John H.) Cocke and Sue (Jimmy) Edwards. She is survived by her children, Andrea (David) Freeland‑Rafferty and Jon “Chris” (Debbie) Freeland; her grandchildren, Jared Cave, Aisylnn Rafferty, Noah Rafferty, and Katherine Freeland; and her great‑grandson, Jamison Cave. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy (Johnny) Davis, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Jean moved to Jackson, Ohio, in her iconic Nightwatch Blue GTO, 4‑speed, beginning a new chapter that reflected her independence, confidence, and adventurous spirit. She came to teach at Manpower, where she dedicated herself to helping others learn and grow. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University and her Master’s in Education from Marshall University. In the late 1970s, Jean left teaching to pursue a new calling and opened Andrea’s Prom and Bridal, a beloved business that continues to serve the Jackson community to this day. Her talent, vision, and warm presence made countless milestones—proms, weddings, and celebrations—more special for generations of families. Jean had a lifelong love of travel, exploring places far and wide. She journeyed to Alaska and Hawaii, and especially cherished her time in Venice, Florida, where she found joy walking the Venice jetty, watching the waves, the wildlife, and her favorite—dolphins—playing in the surf. She also enjoyed golfing and spent many happy hours playing dominoes with friends, sharing laughter and companionship. Jean was a proud member of the Rotary Club and a devoted member of Calvary Church in Jackson. Her faith, kindness, and warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. In keeping with Alice's wishes, cremation will follow her passing. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1pm on Sunday, April 26th, 2026 at the Calvary Fellowship Hall in Jackson.
