Laurel Eugene Cosby

June 18, 1952 - March 2, 2022

Laurel Eugene “Bud” Cosby, 69 of Beaver, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the SOMC Hospice Center of Portsmouth. He was born June 18, 1952 in Jackson County to the late Coston L. and Josephine Valentine Cosby. Bud was a jokester and a homebody who enjoyed people, he never met a stranger. He was employed by Mead Paper Mill/Chilpaco Division of Chillicothe for 43 years and nothing was more important than his grandchildren. Bud loved and was passionate about his family and friends that became family. He was an avid outdoors-man, who loved to hunt, turkeys were his calling. He loved to ride motorcycles and was a member of the Rareblood Motorcycle Group of Chillicothe, Ohio. Bud also enjoyed to garden for which he grew the best “sweet corn”, he loved to dance, sing and was always the life of the party. He had a smile that would light up the world; his laugh was contagious! Our father will be greatly missed by so many. He is survived by his wife: Marla Kay “Mickey” Cosby. Son: Chris Cosby, daughters: Carla (Thomas) Brown and Laura (Kerry) Gray, sisters: Shelia (Henry) Roach and Carol (Wendell) Tiller, grandchildren: Kylah, Trent, Brynden, Haelie, Jaden and Brock, special friend: Dennis Hinty, special adoptive children: Brandy Hartley and Austin Hartley, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Dorsine Thomas and Nancy Jane Cosby Davis. Funeral service will be held at 2PM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Woodrow Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends 4 hours prior to the services from 10AM up to the time of the services at 2PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at:www.mayhew-brownfuneralhome.com
