Betty J. Mercer, age 88, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away July 31, 2013, at Jenkins Memorial Health Facility, Wellston, Ohio. Betty was born February 28, 1925 in McArthur, Ohio. She was preceded in death by husband William Edgar Mercer, parents Leslie and Ethel Greene, and one brother. She is survived by seven children: Bobby Dean Maxwell and wife Robin of Columbus, Ohio, Duke Hilt and wife Kim of Jackson, Ohio, Larry Farrar and wife Suzanne of Sunbury, Ohio, Crystal (Hilt) Prater and husband Nick of Jackson, Oho, William Edward Mercer and wife Sandra (Hughes) Mercer of Richmond Dale, Ohio, Randy L. Mercer and wife Tina (Wolford) Mercer of Columbus, Ohio, Linda (Mercer) Richards and husband Sean of Jackson, Ohio; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. At the request of the deceased, no calling hours will be observed. A private memorial service will be scheduled for the family at a later date.
