Ruth Ann Swaney

Ruth Swaney of Cove Rd. in Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025 at OSU in Columbus after a series of strokes. She lived in Jackson County all her life and was a 1964 graduate of Jackson High School. Ruth was born in Columbus, Ohio to Edgar and Amanda Dennison in 1944. She was the only daughter with three older brothers, Eldon, Jim, and Earnest who spent their days teasing and aggravating Ruth, but she loved them all very much. She married Carl “Eddie” Swaney Jr. in 1964 then had two sons, Brian and Donald who were very special to her. Life on the Swaney Farm was a busy one. There were always “chores” to be done or events to prepare for including family gatherings. Ruth was known for her noodles plus many other good “home cookin”, but Ruth liked to write poetry so she took time to do so. Later in life she remained faithful to Carl and Carol Swaney helping them when she could. She helped many neighbors in their time of need as well. Her brothers all preceded her in death as well as her sister-in-law Connie White. She is survived by sister-in-law Bonnie Dennison; nephews, Richard, Roger, Roy, and Ronnie Dennison; niece, Rhonda Wasch. Also, brother-in-law Russell White and daughter Kellie White Dawson; sister-in-law, Melody Rose, John + Christina. A nephew, Mike Dennison who she loved like a brother. Ruth worked at General Mills for 20 years and made many friends there. She had several health issues fighting back and was thankful. She was a believer and a prayer warrior. Whatever her situation was, she would be thankful sitting in the sun while counting her blessings. Ruth will be missed greatly by her family and many friends. Romans12:12 NIV “Be joyous in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Cavanaugh officiating. The family will receive friends 3 hours prior to the service from 11-2pm. Per Ruth's wishes, she will be cremated following her services.
