Penny Lynn Rupert

Penny Lynn (Walker) Rupert, 74, of Jackson Ohio passed away in her home in Jackson, Ohio, on September 6, 2023. Penny was born April 9, 1949 in Gallipolis, Ohio, to Ervin Lee and Ruth Avonel (Helman) Walker (both deceased). She attended Jackson High School in Jackson, Ohio, class of 1967. She continued her education at Shawnee State, completing her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She then continued her studies at Hocking Technical College completing her Associate of Science in Nursing degree and passed the State Boards to become a Registered Nurse. She worked as a pediatric nurse at Holzer in Gallipolis, Ohio. She then worked in Labor and Delivery at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. She then worked as a Home Health Nurse in Pike County. Penny was a compassionate and deeply caring nurse and she was loved by all of her patients and she was known for providing top notch care to all that she took care of. Penny volunteered with many organizations including Red Cross, as the Coordinator of First Aid and CPR Training, she was a Girl Scout Leader, she worked with Child Abuse Prevention at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was a mentor at Jackson City Schools, where she made lasting connections with several young girls there. She was a member of Junior Federated Woman’s Club in Jackson, Ohio. And a member as well as a Board Member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jackson, Ohio. Penny enjoyed quilting, canning, baking, making candy and cakes. She also enjoyed doing counted cross stitch and candle wicking. She crocheted and sewed and could craft with the best of them. There really wasn’t anything that she couldn’t do that she put her mind to. Penny was foremost a caregiver. She took care of many members of her family including her mother and her mother-in-law. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and caring hug to anyone she met. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading and playing games with them. She was an avid reader and she loved watching movies and series on tv and enjoyed having discussions about all of the books and shows that she watched. Penny is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years John Paul Rupert, and her brother Edwin Walker, and her sisters, Sharon Coy, Carolyn Leach, and Betty Simpson. She is survived by her brother, Stephen (Melody) Walker of Jackson, Ohio, and her children: John F Rupert of Jackson, Ohio, Melissa (Tom) White of Wolverine Lake, Michigan, Beth (Robert) Grubaugh of Cameron, North Carolina, and Christopher (Jeffrey Bee) Rupert of Columbus, Ohio, grandkids: Andrew John(AJ) Caulkins of Arlington, Virginia, Kyrsten (Justin) Collick of Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, Gregory Rupert, Xavier Rupert, and Casey Rupert, all of Jackson, Ohio, Kaitlyn Grubaugh and Lillian Grubaugh, both of Cameron, North Carolina.
