Janice Willis Queen

Janice Willis Queen was born on December 18, 1937, and went home to the Lord and awaiting family on August 16, 2026. Janice is survived by her daughter and best friend, Yolanda Queen, nieces and nephews, Joyce Provens, Teresa (Les) McGrath, Paula (Larry) Zimmerman, Bruce (Tiffany) Willis, Jack (Dee) Tipton, Cathy (Ted) Wolford, Brian (Kim) Dulaney, Kevin (Stephanie) Dulaney, Donald "Peanut" (Cindy) Willis, Hope (Wade) Humphreys, Jim (Kerry) Willis, Jay (Robin) Willis, Amber Cron, Todd (Gloria) Willis, a beloved sister-in-law Jeanne Willis, several nieces and nephews, and her little dog, Willow and her grand dog and cat, Daphne and Penny. She loved every member of her family and her dear friends. Janice was a woman of faith, family and community service. She was known for hosting fundraisers, such as for Our House, granting a wish to a sweetheart of a young lady battling cancer, and her work for the Democrat Party, and her church activities. When Sheila and Yolanda were in high school, Janice always welcomed their friends at any times. Janice was what was known as an '80's Democrat. She raised her daughters on her own after the death of her former husband, Ronnie Queen, who remained her dear friend. Janice taught her daughters to be independent, and they could choose their own career path, be it college, or learning a skill so long they would always be able to support themselves. She taught her girls right from wrong, and was a loving, caring mother, but no pushover. Janice also loved country music, and was once a part of the duo, The Willis Sisters. Janice and her sister, Audrey used to sing on the radio and have sung on radio shows such as the Louisiana Hayride, and various local stations. They sang each weekend on our Jackson, Ohio station. The sister's older brother, Harry Dean used to sneak them into local establishments to sing, and used to sing with Lloyd White, and before he was famous, Bobby Bare. Janice continued singing, and her connections and endeavors made her a friend to many well-known musicians. Janice is proceeded in death by her daughter, Sheila Queen, her parents, Marshall "Curly" and Velva Mapes Willis, sisters Genieva Bethel, Audrey Tipton, Karen "Susie" Dulaney, Brothers Earl "Buddy" Willis, Harry Dean Willis, Donald Arthur Willis, and Glen "Bud" Willis, nephews Timothy Willis, Chad Willis, Mark Loudermilk, Tony Willis, Jason Tipton, nieces Kelly Willis Barber and Leslie Willis. Also a special brother-in-law, Herbert "Jack" Tipton. A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Pastors Rob and Tonya Ervin presiding. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service from 11-1pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home.
