James "Jim" Conway

James Joseph “Jim” Conway, Age 77, of Jackson, Ohio, peacefully passed Friday 10/13/2023, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born November 11th, 1945 to the late James and Gladys Stover Conway, in Portsmouth, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Castor Conway, daughter Michelle Conway of Jackson, Oh. Son: Jamie (Emily Harrison Conway), Grandson Alec Conway & Granddaughter Teagan Conway all of Rio Grande, Oh. Also surviving are, Sisters Gail Conway Doster, of Spartanburg SC, Christine Conway Jenkins (Thomas Jenkins) Jackson Oh, as well as several nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews as well as many close friends and family members. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by mother and father-in-law, Dick and Sunny Castor, of Jackson and brother-in-law, James Doster, of Spartanburg, SC. Jim graduated from Jackson High School in 1964. Graduated Manpower in Jackson Ohio. Moved to Gibsonburg, Ohio in 1965 working for Atlas Industries. He graduated from Vanguard Career Center, Fremont, Ohio in 1968 with Tool & Die & Welding certification and also at Kelsey Hayes Automotive Parts in Fremont until 1973. In 1973 Jim and his family moved back to Jackson, Ohio, to work at Goodyear Atomic plant in Piketon, Ohio. 1989 worked in Columbus Ohio with Rockwell International building equipment for Space and Aeronautics. He retired in May 2014 from Van Rob Automotive Manufacturer in Piketon, Ohio. Most importantly Jim was instrumental in helping expand a step-based peer-led mutual aid fellowship recovery program in Jackson County, Ohio, since 1978. The family will receive friends from 8:30-10:30AM Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Jackson, Ohio, at 11:00Am, with a Celebration of Jim’s Life following at the Holy Trinity Parish Hall. A private burial at Fairmount Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home.
