Geraldine "Gerry" Moore

Geraldine (Gerry) Rose Moore, 92, of Jackson, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Fleming County, Kentucky, on January 4, 1933, Gerry was the oldest child of the late John Daniel Rose and Eula Kate Purcell Rose. Gerry graduated as Salutatorian from Fleming County High School in 1951. Shortly after, she began her professional journey in Lexington, Kentucky, while continuing her education through evening classes for many years. On May 31, 1952, Gerry married the love of her life, Roddy T. Moore. Gerry dedicated nearly 40 years to her banking career, working across three locations: El Paso, Texas; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Jackson, Ohio. She retired in 1992 as the Vice President of National City Bank of Jackson, now known as PNC Bank. Gerry was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, Ohio, since 1965. During her time there, she served in numerous capacities, including on various boards and committees. For 15 years, Gerry held the position of Church Treasurer, but her greatest joy came from teaching Junior High Youth Sunday School, where she inspired young minds with her unwavering faith. Gerry's legacy is one of profound love for her Lord, her family, and her church. She devoted her life to living out her faith and serving others, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Remembered for her kindness and commitment to Christian values, Gerry was a selfless servant of Christ. Gerry will be remembered by three loving sons: Daniel and Beverly (Calloway) Moore, David and Lori (Commeans) Moore, and Gregory and Debbie (Snyder) Moore. Five grandchildren: Scott and Amy (Bierhup) Moore, Stephen Moore, Allison Moore, Matthew and Grace (Fulton) Moore, and Olivia Moore, as well as six great-grandchildren: Taggart Moore, Hannah, Andrew, Jordan, Braxton Moore, and Madilynn Moore, all of Jackson. Gerry is also survived by her two sisters, Josephine Neilson of Scranton, Kansas, and Patsy Collins of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, along with many cherished nieces and nephews, and her Godly friend, Marie Walls. She will also be sadly missed by her beloved cat, Tiger. Gerry is now reunited in heaven with her parents, John Daniel Rose and Eula Kate Purcell Rose, as well as her beloved husband, Roddy. In addition to her two brothers, John William and Leroy Rose, two brother-in-laws, Floyd L. Collins and Ray Neilson, one sister-in-law, Mamie (White) Rose, and her maternal grandparents, Forrest and Effie Purcell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church in care of the Deacon's Fund. All donations will be used to help people in need. The funeral service celebrating Gerry’s life will be held at 6:00pm Friday June 13, 2025 at First Baptist Church located at 35 Broadway Street Jackson, Ohio 45640. Pastor Seth Fallon will be officiating. Calling hours will be 3:00-6:00 pm prior to the service.
