Cecilia "Cyl" Baker

Cecilia "Cyl" Baker, 72, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on March 24, 2025, at her home. Born on November 12, 1952, she was the daughter of Franklin Joseph and Gladys Osborne. Most of her life was centered in Jackson and the family home on Globe Street, which had held so many beautiful memories. She always had a story to share, whether it was about her childhood, family (especially stories about her grandson), college, army days when she was stationed in Hawaii, books she was reading, or movies and TV shows that she enjoyed. Cyl was quick to laugh or share a funny story, had a ready ear to listen to a friend in need, and loved her family and two cats (Bonnie and Sweetie). She loved to celebrate all holidays, making sure she had a fun necklace, earrings, or hat to wear. Though Halloween was her favorite of all the holidays. She graduated from Jackson High School then went on to complete a bachelor's degree at Rio Grande College before joining the Army for a number of years until she returned to Jackson. After her service in the military, she spent 45 years working at Buckeye Community Services. The people at Buckeye Community Services became her work family, who were all very dear to her heart. She is survived by her daughter, Meredith (Seth) Rowley, her grandson, Cullen Rowley, her siblings, Patricia Shumate, Mary Hall, Robert “Bob” Osborne, and Kathleen “Kathy” Cruse; her nieces and nephews; Don Channel, Barbie, Bobby Brian, Alan, Tiffany, Melissa, Joanna, Donna, and Eddie. Besides her parents, Cyl is preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph "Joe", Gerald “Jerry”, and David Osborne. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jackson with Father Hergie officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 7pm.
