Alvin Paul Curtis, 72, of Jackson, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 4th, 2026. A lifelong resident Of Jackson, born on August 3rd, 1953, Alvin was a Man of God, a beloved husband to his wife Cathy of 52 years, and a loving father to his 4 children, Julie and Brad Connair (Hartville, Ohio), Kelly and Bobby Carter (Sidney, Ohio), Matthew Paul Curtis (Jackson, Ohio, who preceded him in death in 1999), and Tom and Punky Curtis (Jackson, Ohio). Alvin would be overjoyed to tell you about each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Katie and John Coyne, Abigail Connair, Micah and Scott Boettiger (Phoebe, Drew, and Jesse), Clay and Hallie Carter (Boaz, Matthew, and Marilyn) Luke Carter, and Parker Curtis. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Darby and Jewell Curtis (Jackson, Ohio). While Alvin’s true life’s work was focused on God and Family, neighbors may have also known him through his work as a real estate agent for Appalachia Realty, serving grocery needs at Kroger, coaching in and on the ball fields and courts of various sports leagues in the community, and teaching and preaching from the pulpit. He was also skilled in building and carpentry trades, a hunter, a fisherman, an overall handyman, as well as a singer and Pac-Man player. Alvin was known as a "true soldier of Christ," and was as much a pillar of strength at home as he was in the community, ensuring a life filled with faith, love, and joy. He will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends whose lives he touched. Funeral arrangements are being provided by the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Broadway Street in Jackson, Ohio. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude especially to Jason Brown, Owner/Director, and former ball player of Coach Curtis, for his abundance of generosity towards the people of our hometown community. The funeral will commence on Wednesday, April 8th at 1:00pm, with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans of Rubyville Community Church (Portsmouth, Ohio), officiating. Traditional calling hours will be observed preceding the service beginning at 11:00am up to the time of the service.
