Peggy Jane "Peg" Lanier

Peggy Jane “Peg” Lanier passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 25, 2022 in Dublin, Ohio after a battle with cancer. She was born February 2, 1939 in Coalton, Ohio to the late Harold “Foxy” and Anna Merle Richards Rowe. She graduated from Coalton High School in 1957 and attended Rio Grande Community College where she studied to become an educator. Peggy loved helping others and touched the lives of many students during her 40 plus years of teaching. She was also very active in her church, the Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, Ohio. For many years she served as the church's chairman of End Christmas Hunger, helped organize many private funeral dinners, and was a big part of making noodles for the church's Apple Festival Booth. Her noodles were famous among relatives and friends. It was normal for her to take many orders and she always enjoyed making sure everyone had plenty of noodles for their family gatherings. She also loved hosting her own family meals during the holidays. Her favorite holiday was Christmas Day, which was the day she married the love of her life, Rich. Peggy was a member of Fairgreens Country Club and enjoyed golfing in the women’s league. She was also an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, which promotes professional and personal growth of women educators. Her positive energy, warm heart, sense of humor and passion for taking care of others will be missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband: Richard “Rich” Lanier, son: Steve (Sherrie) Lanier of Jackson, Ohio, daughter: Stefanie (John) Morrow of Dublin, Ohio, grandchildren: Hannah Morrow, Josh (Sophie) Morrow and great-grandchild: Jett Morrow. Peggy is also survived by her siblings: Marilyn “Sis” Brown, Nancy “Nan” Wickline, Harold “Puck” Rowe, Joseph “Rog” (Connie) Rowe, Dianne “Dude” (Jimmie) Moore and brother-in-law: Frank “Goose” McGhee. She is also survived by sister-in-laws: Sharon Smith and Susie Lanier along with many nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents: Harold “Foxy” Rowe and Anna Merle Richards Rowe, sisters: Louise Watkins Nothstine and Jo Ann McGhee, sister-in-law: Janet Rowe, and brother-in-laws: Richard Brown, Dale Wickline, Ed Smith and Garland Lanier. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, Ohio with pastors Janie Karl and Josh Andrews officiating with burial to follow in the Fairmount Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson, Ohio.
